RDJ announces five partnership promotions for 2021
RDJ has announced the appointment of five Partners across the Firm’s corporate, employment, healthcare, litigation and real estate practices.
The new partners are Ruth Finnerty (Healthcare), Marie Gavin (Corporate & Commercial), David Phelan (Real Estate), Michael Quinlan (Litigation) and Michelle Ryan (Employment).

Meet our new partners:
Ruth Finnerty (Healthcare)
Ruth specialises in Healthcare Law and has extensive experience in advising healthcare professionals and hospitals in the defence of medical claims in the Irish Courts. She also regularly advises healthcare professionals and hospitals in regulatory matters and at disciplinary inquiries and coroner’s inquests.
Marie Gavin (Corporate & Commercial)
Marie has a wide range of experience across corporate transactional and advisory work including mergers and acquisitions, company law and governance, joint ventures, private equity, venture capital and other corporate finance transactions. She also routinely advises clients on the complex issues regarding intellectual property, data, and technology in M&A and technology transactions.
David Phelan (Real Estate)
David has built his experience across a range of real estate practice areas including development projects, investment acquisitions and disposals, landlord and tenant matters and real estate financing. His clients include developers of significant commercial and residential sites, as well as lenders and equity investors funding such development schemes.
Michael Quinlan (Litigation)
Michael specialises in dispute resolution and insolvency and corporate restructuring. His core areas of practice are commercial litigation including insurance defence litigation, corporate and personal insolvency and shareholder disputes. Michael represents a board range of national and international clients, in the private and public sectors, in all aspects of contentious litigation (including contentious insolvency litigation) in Court, as well as in alternative dispute resolution processes including mediation, arbitration and regulatory investigations. Michael also advises in the areas of data protection, financial services regulation and compliance.
Michelle Ryan (Employment)
Michelle works with clients across industries on employment issues. She has extensive experience providing advice in areas such as wrongful and unfair dismissal; sexual harassment and bullying and harassment; transfer of undertakings (TUPE); contingent workers; redundancies; industrial relations; and restrictive covenants, and regularly represents clients in the Workplace Relations Commission, Labour and High Court. Michelle has also built specialist expertise in Data Protection and Privacy issues and is a member of RDJ’s Cyber and Data Protection Team.
